Senior Sundays - Carter S.
Welcome to another Senior Sunday with Debbie Larson Photography!
Featuring Senior Portrait shoots in Southwest Iowa.
I'm still catching up with Senior sessions since I only recently got my blog up and going. Here is a shoot I did back in September. Boy, I miss the warm weather I tell ya!
I think September and October are my favorite months to shoot. Nice weather, green grass, and just gorgeous colors all around. The sun is different too. It is just not as harsh in the fall and it makes for perfect outdoor photo shoots!
We did Carter's session like I tend to do most. We started out in the country for the roads and trees and then moved into town for more of an urban feel. and to do his football pictures. We have such a wonderful area here in our little corner of the state. It only takes a few minutes outside of town to get out to the middle of nowhere :) This makes some really fun sessions!
I have to be careful not to make all pictures too serious, especially with my guys. I love that look, but we need some smiles too. After all, I'm pretty sure Mom and Grandma are going to want to see that smile, and this young man has a wonderful one!
Sports pictures are some of may favorite to set up and shoot. If you were ever in any sports in school, I know you get it! Sports are so important to so many kids in school and make some really great photo opportunities. For Carter, we tried to get to his field about sunset for shots with that perfect lighting. I think we nailed it!
Check out the last shot here. Picture on the left is the original and on the right shows a little photoshop work. I love them both, but I have always been a big lover of black and white. And those dramatic shadows, wow LOVE that look!
OOOOOOH this shot. I love this one so much. Some might look at it and say the sunset is what makes it. And I love the sky, but I see more than that. I see a young man who has passed through that gate numerous times over his high school career. Running toward the field with all the hope and heart a teenager can have for his game and his team. I can see him coming back out after that game victorious and on top of the world. And also those times when the game left him tired and muddy, broken and beaten but still having the love of football.
I don't just see the picture in front of me, I can feel it. And that, my friends, is what a photograph is all about.
Thank you to you and your mom for a fun afternoon, Carter. Good luck with the rest of you year!
