A Winter Morning on the Farm
It's been a rough winter here in southwest Iowa.
All of the Midwest, actually. It seems we have some kind of measurable snow each week. I don't think I have seen dry land all winter!
It has been pretty hard on our livestock and pets. But they are tough and are making it through. I suppose like the rest of us here, we're just making it through!
Right now our cattle herds are near the house so they can be easily hayed and checked on daily. The mamas are all bred but thankfully not due right now. Their babies are due in about 4-6 weeks. Hopefully warmer weather will be here by then as well!
Even though they aren't supposed to be dropping those calves right now, it has been known to happen. So, when the kids' bus driver said she saw a couple of those mamas looking like they might be ready, I figured I better check it out. There was no action after all (thank goodness) so I decided to catch some pretty morning pictures instead.
I hope you enjoy this little look into our morning scenery :)
